ITalian Kart Challenge-ITKC 2015- In memory of Gianpiero Moretti 1940-2012


Dear Endurance lovers, pushed by my usual enthusiasm I have developed a new adventure for endurance racing in 2015. In my humble opinion we have made something really real, to make everybody feels the emotions we love so much and set a new standard in Endurance kart racing.
I decided to raise the bar working together with the PCR Italian Kart Constructor to make a series of important improvements , that I’m showing you below, plus a fucking amazing surprise you'll discover just before the start of the first race, so plase do not bomb us with messages to know it because we won't tell !!!
We created a format here in Italy, worldwide center of racing for the karting market, that replicates the most important endurance championship of the world: the American one. They start with the toughest 24 hour, Daytona, than they have a 12 hr, Sebring and finish with a 6hr, Watkins Glen.
We will do the same. We’ll start with a 24hr, then an 8hr( 6 hours are not enough...), and finally a 12 hr. All the races will be in North Italy. Probably we'll make also a pre-season race in Central Italy, with a Partner.
-Scoring system: the points for each race will be different, according to the races lenght. The Teams will be listed in the Absolute standing if they race in at least two races.
-The Kart: Colin Chapman quoted: "for speed add lightness" and we love this... So stop to the use of rental karts. PCR we'll produce a brand new fleet of Racing karts, with some technical adjustments ( nylon steering arms, adjustable seat, enlarged and more impact-resistant rear bumper, stronger braking system) powered by the amazing Briggs & Stratton series 2100 420cc engine,  with electric start. The kart will be assigned to the Teams by public drawing during the Registration procedure and will be perfectly checked to ensure the maximum possible balance of performance.

-Racing behaviour: Real Racing. It means not the popular videogame but the spirit we want to put in our races. At Le Mans or Daytona or Sebring or Spa... Drivers have no spare cars or can push at 100% for 24 hours. So they pay attention to what they do on track and the strategy is made to win against the other teams... We'll be doing exactly the same. Any team must remember that any damage will be repaired on their "Official kart". The spare kart will not exist. The only item that can broke without any responsability of the drivers is the engine. If it brakes internally ( very very rare...) will be replaced. We decided to give everyone the chance to race with the same rules and feeling of the real races: the good is really challenging yourself and feel emotions...the bad is that you can not just play a game...for that you can register to any of the other races with rental karts or stay at home playing a videogame...Just take your time to find the details in the "ITKC2015  section" you'll find there the "rules and regulations" file with everything inside......
-Teams: must be formed by: 24 hr: from five to twelve drivers ; 12hr: from four to ten drivers ; 8 hr: from four to eight drivers.
-Driving Stints: 30 minutes with at least 15 minutes rest between two stints
Max number of stints: 24 hr- thirteen per driver ; 12hr: eight per driver ; 8 hr: six per driver
-Driver weight and ballast: all the drivers will be weighted before the race. The minimum weight will be 85kg without the helmet and accessories. Ballasts will be covering from 5 to 40kilos, if necessary.The weights will be placed in the seat, to maintain as much as possible the same center of gravity for all the drivers. Any driver will be wearing a bracelet with his/her identification letter and the ballast to carry on the kart. The letter on the helmet must match with the letter on the bracelet. Ballasts must be used also during Free Practice.
-Security: pit lane crossing time must be always respected. The Safety car will always enter in the racetrack if a kart must be towed to the Technical Area. It is prohibited to reach the technical area on foot .
-Free practice: 24hr:150 mins; 12hr: 120 mins; 8hr: 90 mins. The driver who catches the Checkered Flag is the one who will start for the Qualify Session.
-Qualify: 15 minutes. The driver who catches the Checkered Flag is the one who will start for the Race.
-Park Fermè: after the end of Free Practice the karts won’t enter in the pits or in the Technical Area. Park Fermè period ends after the Start of the Race
-Race Start: old-Le Mans Style.
-Technical Assistance: To each Team, any six hours, a compulsory five minutes technical stop will be given. In that way any Team can count on AT LEAST one technical stop to check the kart and face the next six hours with their racing kart in the optimal conditions. The technical stop MUST be made in the six hours and it is a decision to be made by the Team Manager.The refueling area it’s OUTSIDE the pit lane crossing time and it is part of the Driving Stint. It could be necessary to change tires during the race: in that case it will be specified clearly in the rules and regulations and/or the pre-race Briefing. All the Tech Staff will be provided directly by PCR.
-Awardings:important prizes to the winning teams will be given and we are trying to obtain other prizes given by the Sponsors/Partners. Separate standing for Gentlemen and Pro Drivers.
-Registration fee: we are defining the last numbers, but we expect this prices: 24 hr: 2900€ - 12hr: 2100€ - 8hr: 1500€. We will give some discount to the teams registering for all the races or a free benefit to be decided.
